Do you know what truly separates us from the animal kingdom? Some scholars might tell you it’s our opposable thumbs. Others submit that it’s man’s capacity for abstract thought. Interesting theories, if you’re into the whole “science” thing, but both abjectly wrong.
No, what truly separates us from our animal brethren is – refinement. Manners. Perhaps, even, sophistication.
Because the last thing you want to do to your two inch thick, solid wood slab, coffee table that you’ve painstakingly hand hewn from a gnarled old maple log (or, alternatively, assembled from a box full of flimsy sawdust and particle board garbage Swedish furniture) is to ring stain that rugged table with condensation from the bottom of a fine glass of eighteen year old single malt.
Do you think Hemingway or Hemenway for that matter would stoop to such savagery?
